There\u2019s been\u00a0speculation about the Switch Pok\u00e9mon titles\u00a0for a while, and now with the official announcement, there\u2019s even more buzz about the exact nature of the games.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s everything we know about\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go, Pikachu!\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go, Eevee!<\/em><\/p>\n

WHAT IS POK\u00c9MON: LET\u2019S GO?<\/h2>\n

Described by director Junichi Masuda as a remake of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Yellow<\/em>, the first Pok\u00e9mon titles for Switch will take us back to the Kanto region, where the original Pok\u00e9mon games were set. Players will start off in Pallet Town, meet Professor Oak and encounter the 151 original Pok\u00e9mon. In addition, elements of the Pok\u00e9mon anime will appear, notably Team Rocket and specific characters.<\/p>\n

WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE?<\/h2>\n

Both versions of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go!<\/em>\u00a0will launch on Nov. 16, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The games are available for pre-order on Amazon for\u00a0$59.99<\/a>\u00a0each<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WHAT\u2019S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PIKACHU AND EEVEE VERSIONS?<\/h2>\n

Each game allows you to travel with the starter Pok\u00e9mon in question, either Pikachu or Eevee. And yes, you can dress them up.<\/p>\n

WHICH POK\u00c9MON WILL BE AVAILABLE?<\/h2>\n

Currently, just the original 151 Pok\u00e9mon will be available in the games, though their Alolan forms will also appear.<\/p>\n

There will also be an all-new Pok\u00e9mon appearing in both games, though further details are still unannounced.<\/p>\n

CAN PIKACHU AND EEVEE EVOLVE?<\/h2>\n

Your starter Eevee or Pikachu will not be able to evolve, but any Pok\u00e9mon that you catch will. Keep in mind that since the game features first-generation Pok\u00e9mon, the only available Eeveelutions will be Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon.<\/p>\n

WHAT ABOUT POK\u00c9MON TRADING, BATTLING, AND BREEDING?<\/h2>\n

Players will be able to trade Pok\u00e9mon from their\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!\u00a0<\/em>games and battle other players via local wireless and Wi-Fi. This requires two Nintendo Switch system. There will, however, be no breeding and no eggs.<\/p>\n

WHAT\u2019S NEW ABOUT POK\u00c9MON: LET\u2019S GO?<\/h2>\n

The biggest difference between the original games and\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go!\u00a0<\/em>is the catching system. Unlike the usual turn-based battle mechanics from the older games,\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!\u00a0<\/em>has a catch system reminiscent of\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em><\/a>. Wild Pok\u00e9mon battles have been completely eliminated in favor of maneuvering the Joy-Con controller to \u201cthrow\u201d Pok\u00e9 Balls. Additionally, wild Pok\u00e9mon appear visibly, instead of surprising the player in the tall grass.<\/p>\n

Regular fights between NPCs and other players, however, will have the same turn-based battle system of the regular games. There will be a variety of difficulty in the trainer battles, according to\u00a0director Junichi Masuda.<\/p>\n

Additionally, two-player co-op will allow another player to join and assist in the Pok\u00e9mon adventure.<\/p>\n

DOES POK\u00c9MON: LET\u2019S GO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH POK\u00c9MON GO?<\/h2>\n

The inspiration from\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>\u00a0is clear and, indeed,\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!\u00a0<\/em>will allow players to connect their\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Go\u00a0<\/em>games. There will be a way to transfer Pok\u00e9mon caught in\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Go\u00a0<\/em>to\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go!\u00a0<\/em>via Bluetooth. It should be noted that this transfer is only from\u00a0Go<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!<\/em>, not vice versa.<\/p>\n

A new device called the\u00a0Pok\u00e9 Ball Plus\u00a0will work with both games, allowing for a neat real-life catching mechanic, the ability to take your Pok\u00e9mon with you where you go, and transfer between the mobile and Switch games.<\/p>\n

SO, DO YOU NEED THE POK\u00c9 BALL PLUS TO TRANSFER?<\/h2>\n

Nope! You can just use Bluetooth LE to transfer Pok\u00e9mon between\u00a0Go<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!<\/em><\/p>\n

CAN YOU HAVE MULTIPLE SAVES?<\/h2>\n

Since Switch allows for multiple accounts per device, each account can have its own save file. So a family of three siblings with three accounts can have three different\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!<\/em>\u00a0save files with the same copy of the game.<\/p>\n

ARE WE STILL GETTING A NEW REGULAR POK\u00c9MON GAME?<\/h2>\n

Yes.\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go!<\/em>\u00a0is not intended to replace a new core game,\u00a0which is set to be released in late 2019<\/a>\u00a0on Nintendo Switch. The new core game will focus more on the handheld features of Switch, while\u00a0Let\u2019s Go!<\/em>\u00a0will focus on the home console experience.<\/p>\n

WHAT KIND OF GAME CAN WE EXPECT?<\/h2>\n

Pok\u00e9mon: Let\u2019s Go!\u00a0<\/em>is tailored towards younger people and new players who may be familiar with\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>\u00a0and the Pok\u00e9mon television series, but not with the original games. Although the game is geared to newcomers, it looks like committed fans will still find some fun and familiar aspects in it.
