While its development has been sort of a downward slope since it went into production in 2015, things should be getting better for Lords of the Fallen 2, now in the hands of CI Games and Defiant Studios, who announced their collaboration today.
Soon after the release of Lords of the Fallen in October 2014, CI Games started working on a sequel to their action-RPG. After a long period of uncertainty, especially because of the critical and commercial failure of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, released last year, the Polish studio confirms that Lords of the Fallen 2 is still on the program. Its development is now in the hands of the New Yorkers of Defiant Studios. We are talking about a studio founded in 2016, with several industry veterans in its ranks, including the former director of Avalanche Studios and developers who worked on Just Cause 3.
The first Lords of the Fallen was also the result of a collaboration between CI Games and Deck13. It has sold more than two million copies, a success that CI Games intends to reiterate: “we talked with a lot of studios, and finally we decided to go ahead with Defiant and they impressed us with their concept of the game, their expertise in production and the pedigree of their developers”.
Keep in mind however that should the project be relaunched, we would have to wait some time before we get our hands on Lords of the Fallen 2. No launch window has been announced yet; all we know is that it will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
