Google’s “Stadia Makers” Program To Empower Indie Game Developers

Launched in November 2019, the cloud gaming platform from Google is now looking to increase the number of titles in the Stadia catalog. The firm wants more independent developers to join it and announces the “Stadia Makers” program to help these creators bring their titles to the platform.

As part of this program, Stadia offers developers up to five physical development kits, a financial contribution of which the amount has not been specified and technical assistance dedicated to Unity. In exchange, the developers must design their game with Unity 2019.3 or a later version, for a release of the title planned for this year or in 2021. Exclusivity is however not required, Stadia must simply be on the list of launching platforms of the game and the company specifies that the developers must imperatively have previous experience.
