Pokémon GO Guide To Raid And Capture Rayquaza

Despite the cold, Pokémon GO still has a loyal community of trainers. It must be said that the game has enjoyed a very steady pace of updates in recent months, with the regular addition of new 3rd generation Pokémon since Halloween, with the latest one including the legendary Rayquaza in the raids. How to beat Rayquaza in Pokémon GO and add it to your Pokedex? Find out in this guide.

RAYQUAZA, A LEGENDARY OPPONENT

Of type Dragon and Fying, Rayquaza is vulnerable to rock, fairy and dragon type moves, and doubly vulnerable ice type moves.

The legendary Pokémon will have a dynamic weather advantage. If the weather is windy, it will be more powerful, but will also have a higher CP if you manage to capture it (2604 CP at level 25 against 2083 CP at level 20 under normal conditions).

Include at least five players in your raid, equipped with teams suitable to defeat the raid boss Rayquaza.

MOVES USED BY RAYQUAZA

Rayquaza can appear with different sets of moves, making it more or less difficult to beat, and interesting to capture. Their types vary, forcing you to compose a balanced team depending on the situation.

Rayquaza can have one of two default moves:

  • Dragon Tail, Dragon type
  • Air Slash, Flying Type

Rayquaza can have one of the three following charged moves:

  • Outrage, Dragon type
  • Aerial Ace, Flying type
  • Ancient Power, Rock type

BEST POKÉMON TO FIGHT RAYQUAZA

Rayquaza stays true to it’s typing from the original games, with Dragon and Flying moves. However, since it is possible that it has Ancient Power, a Rock type move (which has an advantage over the Ice), be careful when using the following as most of them are Ice type Pokémon.

  • Piloswine
  • Jynx
  • Lapras
  • Walrein
  • Articuno
  • Sneasel
  • Dragonite

HOW TO CAPTURE RAYQUAZA AFTER DEFEATING IT?

The capture rate of Rayquaza has a base of 2%, but it can be improved by combining the effects of a Razz Berry or Golden Razz Berry. In the best conditions (curve ball shooting, “excellent”, Pokémon receiving a golden Razz Berry), the catch rate rises to 12%!

Do not hesitate to take your time to make beautiful shots that will greatly help to increase capture rate.
