Amazon Opens A New Studio For A Very Ambitious Project

Amazon seems to be walking on ice when it comes to game development and publishing. But their ambition remains. As proof, the creation of this new studio!

A new Studio for a new challenge

Despite the business failure of Crucible and the long wait and delays for New World, Amazon is not losing confidence. Indeed, the retail giant has decided to create a new studio with a clear objective. This new studio, Amazon Games, based in Montreal, will be responsible for developing games with big budgets, or as we’ve come to call them, triple A titles.

This Canadian entity will therefore join the other Amazon studios, located in Seattle and San Diego. The new studio is currently in the process of recruiting staff , but Amazon says former Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege developers will be in the game.

Therefore, the studio’s first title will be an online multiplayer game. Besides this bit of info, we have no clue as to what kind of game will – perhaps – make this studio famous. An FPS? An RPG?

A word from the Director

Xavier Marquis, creative director of the Montreal studio, said:

Building upon 8 years of experience with Siege, we are excited to start with a blank page and the creative freedom to create a completely unique experience in the multiplayer space.

For his part, Christoph Hartman, vice president of Amazon Games, add to the official article:

Montreal’s rich vein of creative talent will be a valuable asset as we continue building our development and publishing teams. The highly skilled and experienced team at our new Montreal studio shares our commitment to creating best-in-class online games, and brings with them a wealth of knowledge and passion for building deep, community-focused multiplayer experiences. I look forward to watching them invent on behalf of customers as they grow their team and develop their first project.

We will therefore have to wait a long time before discovering this new project, but in the meantime, Amazon’s efforts, as well as all of our eyes, now rest on New World, the MMO recently postponed to August 31, 2021.
