Nintendo Feels No Threat From The PS5 And Xbox Series X

By launching its Switch in 2017, Nintendo has achieved a master stroke, coming back to the fore and “stealing” large market shares from the competition. But this launch window was not anodyne since the firm was thus positioned against the next generation of Sony and Microsoft consoles.

Indeed, while Bigg N was able to take advantage of this release in the middle of the eighth generation of consoles, things could now get complicated with them releasing new consoles at the end of the year, which could logically impact the sales of the Switch. However, in a recent speech reserved for investors, Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, was not worried. According to him, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X should not upset their business since they are not aimed entirely at the same audience.

“We will explain the specific figures for the next fiscal year in our next fiscal year announcement, but I think there will certainly be a change in the environment as new products of our competitors appear (…) We do not believe that the business trends of other companies will have a significant impact on our business.”
